最近出席了一个医疗保健计划的活动,检查报告出来的时候发现我的肝不好,而且还有机能老化的现象。其实我妈妈的那一边亲戚,四个阿姨一个婆婆,其中有三个都有乳癌、大颈包和子宫癌。是的,我妈妈在三十多岁就患有乳癌,我知道我也会被遗传。如果我家的三个姐妹其中一个注定会得乳癌,我希望那个人是我,因为在三个姐妹中,我是最幸福的,这一点苦,算不了什么。所以我时常都说,如果你怕以后老婆没有胸部,就别追我!因为我以后可能也会没了半边乳房。当我在活动里跟新认识的朋友说起这件自以为很潇洒的事情的时候,朋友告诉我:
我们或许会被病魔击垮,但是意志力决不能先被打败! Attended an activity which promotes medical treatment and health care lately. My medical check up reveals that my liver is not working well, and it is functionally ageing. Truth to be told, 75% of my female relatives suffer from breast cancer, uterus cancer and other ailments. My mother suffered from breast cancer when she was in her thirties, and I know that one day I will experience the same, too. If one of my three sisters are fated to suffer from breast cancer, I sincerely wish to be the one, because I am the one who had enjoyed the most out of the three of us, therefore it is absolutely nothing for me to go through these pains. Which is the reason why I always tell my friends: if you don’t want to get a wife who might lose her breasts in future, then don’t ever consider dating me! Because chances are I might lose my breasts one day. When I tell my friends about this, they tell me:
we might one day lose to illness, but our perseverance and determination shall never be defeated! *
其实我早在半年前就开始注意自己的饮食、运动和睡眠时间,但是 (我偷偷跟你说) 我做得不够好~~~ 我想了很久,列下了一些目标,这一些目标都是根据美国著名猶太裔人本主主义心理学家亚伯拉罕·马斯洛提出的需求层次理论。
(其实我不太懂中文翻译,都是上网找的,呵呵呵。白雪在大学的第二学期,就曾经用这个理论做“组织沟通”的调查) Actually I had become more conscious and aware of of my health through proper food intake, adequate exercise and sleep half a year ago, but (allow me to tell you this in secret) I had not been doing a good job on it. I had thought about this for quite some time and I jotted down some of my goals. These goals are based on the theories of a famous American Jewish psychologist, Abraham Maslow’s theory on hierarchy of needs.
(I am not sure of the proper translation of this in Mandarin. The translation provided here are found online. I had used this theory to conduct a survey on organization’s communication during my second semester in varsity.)

决定每个人的人格发展境界,这位心理学家就将人的需求分为五个层次,由低到高,就像是个金字塔。
(红橙黄绿蓝,大家到这里应该没问题呱?) 今天我要跟大家分享的是级别最低的生理需求 (Physiological),满足生理需求是很重要的,因为没有这个,人就会失去思考能力,那么就更不要说满足其他的精神需求了。
This defines every individual’s state of personality development. Marslow divided our needs into five levels, from the lowest to the highest in a pyramid form.
(Red, orange, yellow, green and blue - I hope there’s no problems for you guys to comprehend this?) Today I would like to share with you guys about our most basic need, which is psysiological needs. It is vital to fulfill our physiological needs because without this, we will lose our ability to think, hence it would be impossible to move on to other needs.
生理需求又有分为好几项:Psysiological need could be divided into eight:
1. Breathing 呼吸
2. Water 水 (不是流口水) (not drooling)
3. Shelter 遮蔽所
4. Food 食物
5. Sex (嗯……应该是要有一个明确的性别 =,=) (err, there should be a specific, defined gender for this)
6. Homeostasis 平衡能力
7. Sleep 睡眠
8. Clothing 衣服
我的目标:My goals:1. Breathing 呼吸虽然我现在在北方念书,但是其实空气没有说特别好,不懂,或许我家的空气也不错的关系吧,所以忘了大城市风尘“呼呼”。不过,到人潮多的地方,我要让自己戴口罩了,不要拿自己的健康开玩笑。
Although I am currently studying in UUM, it could not be said that the air here is fresher than KL, contrary to popular belief. This is probably due to the fact that I had always live in a town that is not really polluted, so I couldn’t remember how polluted the air in KL is. Nevertheless, when I reach crowded place I will remind myself to wear a mask – best not to fool around with my own health.
2. Water 水在宿舍取水不方便,不像家里开了就能喝。所以我每次都在包包里塞一个大大的水壶,到讲堂的取水器取水,早上傍晚都各拿一次 (呵呵呵,掩嘴笑,好贪小便宜哦~) 每天早上一起来就喝一杯水,少喝冷饮,去戏院只能买矿泉水。
Unlike living in my house where I can drink water whenever I want to, it is quite inconvenient to get clean water in hostel. Therefore I will stuff a huge bottle in my bag and fill it with clean water at lecturer hall in mornings and evenings (*sinister smile* I’m such a cheapskate…) I will drink a glass of water when I wake up and try to avoid cold drinks throughout the day. Also, the only drink I go for when I head to the cinemas is mineral water.
3. Shelter 遮蔽所我家好好,宿舍也可以!只要有个地方为我遮风挡雨,我就很满足了 ^_^
My housse is great for this purpose, but my hostel is not bad as well! I’m satisfied with a place that hedge me against rain and shine. ^_^
4. Food 食物学校食堂卖很多炸鸡咖哩鸡,我要少吃肉 (酸性食物,又像尸体)、蛋黄 (酸性食物,我的最爱),多吃蔬菜和谷类。我现在在超市选的都会是谷类面包,偶尔会有其他口味的,不过会少吃。我也开始在大学里大量吃蔬菜了,(因为大学的蔬菜黄黄水水口味很不一样!) 一天三餐尽量要定时吃,早上不能吃 nasi lemak,因为怕多脂肪上课会想睡觉。晚上上完课,也尽量在六点至七点之前享用我的晚餐,这个时候的我是个乞丐!O(∩_∩)O哈哈~ 还有,不准吃泡面!饿的话就只能吃苹果,不要吃糖份很高的饼干!
Varsity’s canteen sells all kind of fried chicken and curry chicken. However I want to take less meat (it’s so acidic and resembles dead body so much) and egg yolk (another acidic food despite being my favourite) and increase vegetable and oat intake. Nowadays I will go for wholemeal bread at supermarket. Occasionally I do go for other flavours, but I do try to avoid them whenever possible. I’ve also learned to eat more vegetable in varsity (vegetables provided in varsity is so different – it’s so yellowish and watery!). Everyday I try to take my meals at fixed times and avoid eating nasi lemak for breakfast as an excess intake of fat will make me sleepy. After my lectures at night, I will try to have my dinner between 6pm to 7pm – this is the time when I eat like a beggar! O(∩_∩)O Also, no instant noodles for me! If I am hungry, apple is the food I use to substitute biscuits, as they contain too much sugar!
5. Sex (嗯……应该是要有一个明确的性别 =,=) (uhh… there should be specific, defined gender for this)

6. Homeostasis 平衡能力
这个我有,只是有时会晃神。
I have this. It’s just that I might feel dizzy sometimes.
7. Sleep 睡眠我是夜猫子协会的高级会员,从13岁开始就夜睡,资历8年。半年前我故意把课放在早上,逼自己每晚 12 点前入睡。自从今年五月期末考,压力很大然后又将睡眠时间颠倒了。我试过最早睡觉是早上十点半,邱琬婷,你真的要改一改了!我希望自己每晚11-12点之前入睡,睡觉前一个小时不要碰电脑,睡觉时手机不要放在身边,超过六点不准睡“午觉”。我要有充足的睡眠,隔天才能有好的精神听课,有好的精神才容易吸收,而且一整天的心情也会跟着亮丽起来哦!
If there is an exclusive club for night owls, I definitely qualify as their VIP member. I’ve never sleep early since I’m 13, so I have 8 years of experience as a night owl. Half a year ago I purposely arrange my lectures to take place in the mornings in order to force myself to sleep before 12am. Since this year’s examination in May however, my schedule is a mess again due to my stressful life. I need adequate sleeping hours so I can pay my full attention in lectures. It is only possible to absorb all the information when I have enough sleep. Furthermore, adequate sleep makes me feel good!
8. Clothing 衣服哈哈哈,我理想中优质的生活,就是不需要穿衣服!(狂笑) 你们说 (嘟嘴),我能不能像老夫子一样订七件白雪装,这样子就可以穿一辈子了? ~\(≧▽≦)/~啦啦啦
Haha, my ideal life is one where I don’t have to wear clothes! *laugh like a maniac* I would like to get you guys’ opinion on something *pucker up my lips* Can I order 7 snow-white-like attire the way Master Q did and wear them for the rest of my life?
不过我要在这里跟大家解释一点的是,除了衣服和性之外,其他六样东西在亚伯拉罕·马斯洛所提出的需求层次理论是缺一不可的。
Allow me to clarify something: apart from clothing and sex, the other six needs put forward by Marslow are must-have in our lives.
我的女生朋友们有的一天要五次(笑),不然一个月至少也有一次。不过,对我来说,我会把这些都转移在运动和读书上。
Some of
my girl friends need five times a day *laugh*. Well, at least once in a
month. As for me, I would shift my attention to exercise and studies.


我需要有健康,因为我现在努力创造的这一切以后一定需要健康去享用。我需要有知识,因为有知识才能改变自己、改变生活。
I need good health because the end product of what I’m striving for
right now can only be enjoyed if I am healthy. I need knowledge,
because with knowledge I can change myself and my life.
如果我的朋友对健康像我这样“不知头不知尾”,那么他就不会告诉我:
家族中任何人患有癌症,只要你的身体是弱碱性的,你就能减少机率,就算你家族有遗传,你也可以用你的生活方式而做出转变。他还告诉我,有人把它归结为遗传,其实是因为这一家人每天吃的都一样、喝的都一样,细胞的原料一样,你说能不生同样的病吗?
If my friend is ignorant about health care like me, he would not be able to provide me with useful information like
how a person can reduce the risk of getting cancer by gaining a alkaline body, changing their lifestyle, despite genetic heritation. People always blame the genes for their health problems, but had it occurred to them that the main cause of their sickness is because the whole family eats the same thing and live the same kind of lives, which is why they ended up with the same kind of disease?
我要多吸取外界知识,那么我才能用这一些资产保障我的生活。
I want to be more knowledgeable as knowledge is the property that safeguards my life.
其实我一直都知道自己没有很健康,但是前几天做了身体检查后,才真的清楚也接受了这个事实,我的肝不好,而且也有机能老化的现象。我才明白为什么我的新陈代谢一直都不好,也很不容易流汗。
Actually I’ve always know that I am unhealthy, but I had only been able to truly accept this fact after the medical check up. My liver is not working well, and it is ageing. It then hits me why my metabolism had never been good, and why I don’t sweat easily.
