I Just Want to Know Whether If You will Cross Red Lights

There’s a European couple next to us. The old lady said: even my granddaughter can draw something like this. She was laughing and I was sweating. Please lady, I didn’t paint this. You don’ have to use this kind of tone.

By the way,
read these before you continue reading  :)

在 Room16 里边,有一系列 Gonzales Coques 的作品,The Five Senses: Seeing, Feeling, Hearing, Tasting, Smelling.

There’s a series of Gonzales Coques painting in Room 16. In the same room there was a 135x170cm blank painting – Guy Mees’s untitled. She asked me what it was, I said it was The Six Sense.

She laughed. I said: “I just randomly it said and you laughed so crazily. What’s with your sense of humour…?”

“Oh, you’re a quick learner!” She laughed even more happily. This girl is a little crazy.

我带了她去 David Claerbout 的 Untitled (Carl and Julie) 玩。

I took her to David Claerbout’s Untitled (Carl and Julie). I asked her to enter. She asked: “No ghost, right?” When she was next to it, the sensory and projector connected to each other. The girl is the video then automatically turned her head. She was scared and she got closer to me. When we got closer and closer, the girl turned her head back to do her homework.

This is same as what happened in our daily life. We all curiously turn our head when a stranger entered into our space. When we realize they have nothing to do with us, we will coolly turn out heads away. Aren’t there many strangers in our lives? We sit in MRT and we never speak nor smile – not even eye contact. We live in such a mentally unhealthy society. I suggest government to launch a let’s smile campaign. I realize most Singaporeans don’t smile.

This is actually quite fun, it is an effective tool to get the girl I want. The guy was a little hideous though.

I told her it was a projected image but she didn’t believe me. She even went to touch the wall.
I seemed to be extremely talkative today. I don’t know why but I feel really happy to talk to her.

We entered a darker dimension. I asked her, will you cross red lights illegally in the midnight at junctions?
She said she will.
“Well then, you are a nice person who do bad stuff when no one sees you. Tsk tsk.”
“No I don’t.”
“Do you think that nice people do bad stuff when no one sees them?”
“All I know is that bad people will definitely do bad things when no one sees them”
“Don’t you think that there’s plenty of grey are in this world. Some so-called nice people might not be that nice. Bad people might not be that bad either.”
“What’s your definition of nice people and bad people?” She looked expressionless. I accidentally realized that there’s no emotions in her eyes.
“….” I hadn’t had a chance to say anything before she continues.
“All I know is that something bad might happen when a drunkard drives and cross red lights illegally.”
“What will happen then?” I asked.
“Somebody might die.”
“Death is not a big deal, right? Everyone dies eventually…”

Her eyes reddened. She didn’t look at me – she just lowered her head and left.
The foreign tourists in front looked at us, even the Japan tourists are whispering. Did I say something wrong?
